Position Summary:
The Golf Ranger will be responsible for regularly monitoring the golf course and assisting golfers. The Golf Ranger will inform players of golf course rules and regulations, ensure player registration with the golf pro shop, and frequently communicate and collaborate with golf pro shop staff.
This position is seasonal, and non-exempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act and the NYS Department of Labor rules and regulations. The workweek includes flexible schedules depending on the workload, with some evening, weekend and holiday hours as needed.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Ranger must be the on course customer service specialist for the facility.
- Provide welcoming “second contact” with each customer or groups of customers and ensure they have an enjoyable time.
- Regularly monitors the golf course, to ensure the safety of golfers.
- Maintains the pace of play and assist golfers as needed.
- Checks receipts of players to ensure registration with the golf pro shop.
- Communicates and collaborates with pro shop staff for status reports and emergencies.
- Informs players of golf course rules and regulations and enforces consistently in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Ensures supplies are properly maintained and replenished throughout the day.
- Assists with storing of golf carts as well as light cleaning of equipment and facilities daily.
- Light maintenance of the golf course as needed.
Qualifications and Performance Attributes:
- Must be available to work a varied schedule with possible evening, weekend and holiday hours
- Some knowledge of golf course rules and regulations preferred
- Highly motivated and able to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work closely with other staff members and interact in a friendly and courteous manner with the public
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and tact
- Must be honest and reliable
Working Conditions:
- This is a seasonal position
- Primarily outdoor position. May perform in extreme weather conditions.
- Scheduled working hours may be changed due to weather conditions and golf course closures
- Job duties may require an employee to bend, reach, stoop, sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time as well as lift and/or move heavy objects at times up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to adapt to ever changing resources and limited budget
