THE BUFFALO OLMSTED PARKS CONSERVANCY WILL CONDUCT THE FIRST OF A SERIES OF PUBLIC MEETINGS ON RESTORING THE SOUTH PARK ARBORETUM
6 p.m. Thursday at the Botanical Gardens Administration Building.
Public input is sought on the park, trees, golf course, walking paths and other areas that could impact the arboretum’s restoration. The meeting will be led by the consultant Kyle Zick Landscape Architecture. For more information, go to bfloparks.org/arboretum.
A Buffalo News story in August reported the conservancy has long been interested in restoring Frederick Law Olmsted’s plan for an arboretum at South Park. For that reason, the organization is most interested in relocating the South Park golf course to a brownfield on Hopkins Street, adjacent to the park.
