Summer parking changes at Delaware Park

By June 22, 2017No Comments

THE BUFFALO OLMSTED PARKS CONSERVANCY’S LANDSCAPE WORK BETWEEN THE MARCY CASINO AND ROSE GARDEN HAS RELOCATED PARKING FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND LIMITED VEHICLE ACCESS TO THE PARK.

“We are proud of this beautiful restoration, and as your Olmsted parks are on the National Register of Historic Places, we ask that the public be patient and respectful of our hard work to keep them preserved,” said Stephanie Crockatt, the conservancy’s executive director.

Crockatt encouraged parkgoers to use the Albright-Knox Art Gallery’s Elmwood parking lot, which is open after hours at a reduced rate, or to walk or bike. Four parking spaces for disabled people have been relocated closer to Lincoln Parkway just inside the park boundaries. From there, new pathways lead to the casino, the Terrace restaurant, Rose Garden and Shakespeare Hill.

New bike racks are being installed near the Marcy Casino.

To help those with mobility issues, the conservancy provides a golf cart to the Marcy Casino for wedding and event assistance, and another to Shakespeare in Delaware Park performances. Shuttles operated by Marcy Casino or Shakespeare staff will run in cycles based on event demand.

Reserved parking along Lincoln Parkway near the Marcy Casino is only allowed via an approved valet or parking service during weddings and large special events.
